Tiny is a little mouse who has a big secret that hurts him alot, but his whisper is too quiet for others to hear him.
This beautifully illustrated read-aloud book will give a voice to the youngest child to talk about sexual abuse, even if it is just a whisper. If you are a parent, teacher, therapist, counsellor, or childhood educator then this book is a must-have tool for you. The author has used gentle, child-friendly language to engage both reader and child, and the story is presented in a respectful and supported way.
This book includes mindfulness exercises, breathing techniques, as well as free trauma-informed training opportunities and support.
Adults will walk away from this story with a better understanding of how a child understands and interprets childhood sexual abuse.
Let’s help prevent childhood trauma and sexual abuse one child at a time.
Tiny Finds his Whisper is a sweet, yet powerful resource for the younger child who has encountered abuse. The gentle, simple language that is voiced through Tiny the mouse reads easily when read aloud. In addition, the sweet, engaging illustrations are sure to hold the child's attention in a caring way. Included at the end of the book is a valuable resource section that offers tools for anyone working with abused children. A must-have for the bookshelf of parents, teachers, and therapists. This is a beautiful written story that gently approaches a subject that children and adults find hard to talk about. Through the quiet whispers of Tiny a little mouse who finds his voice this book is a safe, gentle resource to help a child find their voice. Children of all ages, races, ethnicities, and economic backgrounds are vulnerable to sexual abuse. This abuse affects girls and boys in all kinds of neighborhoods and communities and in countries around the world and that is why I would highly recommend this book for parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles and is a valuable resource for any school, social worker, daycare and foster parents. Marvel grew up playing in the forests and fields of British Columbia. Like Tiny, Marvel has a sense of adventure, and loves to explore the world around her. With her background in Early Childhood Education, Marvel has a compassionate heart for hurting children, and her home has been a safe haven for many little ones over the years. Marvel felt inspired to write Tiny's story after learning about her own daughter's journey; she felt lost trying to find support and resources suitable for parents and children who have been affected by sexual abuse. Now finding strength in her daughter's healing, as well as from her own past, Marvel wants Tiny to be a vessel of hope for children, teenagers, and adults.
To give even the smallest child a voice. A chance to say "NO!" and to stop the abuse in its tracks. To give parents the resources to help their hurting child, and to create a path of healing together.
Jurnee is Marvel's daughter. As a child, Jurnee loved to climb trees, play in the rain, and sing. Her story inspired the creation of Tiny, but her voice is going to be carried by a different woodland character, soon to come. Jurnee has always had a love of writing and art, so she was very excited with visions of how she wanted to tell Tin
Jurnee is Marvel's daughter. As a child, Jurnee loved to climb trees, play in the rain, and sing. Her story inspired the creation of Tiny, but her voice is going to be carried by a different woodland character, soon to come. Jurnee has always had a love of writing and art, so she was very excited with visions of how she wanted to tell Tiny's story through her paintings. There were times when portraying the emotions in the story was difficult, but she carried on, knowing how important Tiny's story was to tell. Like Tiny, Jurnee found it hard to use her voice. But she doesn't anymore.

Tipping Point is glad to endorse the book “Tiny Finds His Whisper.” Child sexual abuse is real. In Canada experts estimate that one in three girls; one in six boys experience sexual abuse. Over 95% of cases are not reported. This book encourages open conversation in a trusted and safe place.
If this book leads to the child disclosing events of abuse, first and foremost believe the child. Use good listening skills. Remain as calm as possible. Do not ask leading or specific questions or put words in the child’s mouth. Rather listen empathetically. Allow them to report what they are comfortable to express. Allow for silence. Sometimes words are hard to find. Avoid promising things that cannot be guaranteed. Be honest about your responsibility to report. If the child is in immediate danger, take steps to protect from further harm. Always remind the child that it is not their fault. Do not try to be a therapist to the child but write down a verbatim of what you have heard from the child. Your duty is to report and support. Let the professionals conduct the investigation, not you. Every child matters. Every child deserves a safe present and a future that is not defined by their past.
